NORTON MOTORCYCLE
Black leather and red piping seat for a treasured family motorcycle restoration project
This seat was reupholstered as part of the ongoing restoration of a family Norton International Manx dating from around 1956.
The original fibreglass seat base was retained, preserving its distinctive outline, raised rear section and shaped opening around the fuel tank. The padding was prepared before the new black leather covering was tailored to follow these contours, with carefully positioned seams defining the curved rear panel.
Red leather piping traces the seat’s perimeter, matching the red pinstriping on the motorcycle’s silver bodywork. Against the black leather, it provides a crisp outline and connects the upholstery to the wider restoration.
The finished seat brings together the original form, a fresh leather covering and a detail drawn directly from the motorcycle itself—a personal contribution to bringing a much-loved family bike back to life.
