OAK HALLWAY BENCH

A bespoke oak bench combining an upholstered seat, concealed storage and a slatted shoe rack.

John made this bespoke oak bench to combine seating and storage in a hallway. The upholstered top provides a comfortable place to sit while putting on shoes, lifting to reveal a concealed compartment beneath. A slatted lower shelf keeps footwear together and within easy reach.

The oak frame has straight square legs and a gently rounded timber border around the red upholstered seat. Its dark finish brings out the grain and contrasts with the textured fabric.

The photographs follow the bench from its unfinished oak construction to the completed piece, including the opening lid and its position in the customer’s hallway.
