MOBILE BOOKCASE
Bespoke movable oak table with practical storage for St Luke’s Church, Thurnby.
John made these bespoke mobile tables and bookcases for St Luke’s Church in Thurnby. The units combine generous tabletop surfaces with open shelving, providing furniture that can be repositioned to suit the church’s needs.
Oak veneer panelling gives the units a consistent appearance from their exposed sides, while cream-coloured tops and shelf surfaces contrast with the timber. Castors sit discreetly beneath the plinths, allowing the furniture to move without prominent wheels interrupting its appearance.
The installed photographs show the units positioned together as tables and used to store the church’s embroidered kneelers. Studio details highlight the oak grain and panel framing, while the workshop photograph records one unit before its finished tabletop was fitted.
