QUILTED BIREL KART SEAT
Bespoke quilted vinyl upholstery for a customer’s retro go-kart restoration.
John made this vinyl seat upholstery for a customer who restores retro go-karts. The seat formed part of a Birel kart restoration, bringing together silver diamond quilting, smooth black side panels and a red Birel badge.
The silver centre gives the upholstery its distinctive character. Light catches the quilted surface and emphasises the diamond pattern, while the black sides frame it and provide a simple contrast. Installed within the kart’s red chassis, the seat sits comfortably alongside the exposed mechanical parts and period graphics.
The workshop photographs show the covering taking shape: first as a flat quilted panel with the badge in place, then as an assembled cover with its side panels attached. These stages offer a closer look at the work behind the finished seat, showing details that become less visible once it is fitted to the kart.
